About the Author

Marie Monsen (1878-1962) was a Spirit-filled Norwegian missionary to North and Central China for a period of thirty years, during which time she was used by God in revival, accounts of which can be read in her other book, The Awakening. This revival was the precursor to the great revival of the underground church recorded by Brother Yun in The Heavenly Man.

I love the two books by Marie Monsen. In this one, she tells of events during her time as a missionary in China. They show how she depended on God, and applied His promises daily. We see, too, how God was faithful to his promises as she used them to protect a large group from lawless bandits, make herself seemingly invisible for hours to a drunken bad man, and live among pirates for a month, making them treat their captives decently as she stood on promises. Reading this, I understand that nothing is impossible for those who fully trust the Lord.

I am so thankful that Kingsbury Press published Marie Monsen’s books. Her ministry was primarily responsible for the spread of true Christianity through China , even in the face of severe persecution. To have lost these books would have been a great loss.
