Reward According to Works by Robert Govett

This book deals with the subject of rewards based on our actions or "works" in this life. Paul clearly states in 1 Corinthians 3 that all believers will stand before Christ and be judged and rewarded according to how they have lived their earthly life. There is no conflict here with the doctrine of justification by faith. Every one who has placed their faith in the finished work of Christ as their only salvation from sin will be saved from the eternal wrath of God. But how we live our lives after placing our faith in Christ will determine our rewards and positions in God's eternal kingdom.

Robert Govett (1813-1901) was a British theologian and pastor who became well known because of his brilliant deductive and analytical capabilities. He was a fellow of Worcester College, Oxford. His teachings and writings have been preserved in a large number of books and tracts. C. H. Spurgeon said of him: "Mr. Govett wrote a hundred years before his time, and the day will come when his works will be treasured as sifted gold."
