Christine and her husband were called to take the gospel to gypsies who lived in caves. But their denomination was unable to back them due to financial constraints. So they felt to  go in faith!! They arrived with their children, to live in a mountainous cave region of Spain — an undiscovered, poverty stricken area, during the rule of General Franco. They found themselves confronted with extreme opposition and danger.

Christine felt totally lost on arrival! How could she ever be happy here!? The sunshine and flamenco in Spain meant nothing! Since she was twelve years of age, her faith in the Lord, had always seen her through!! But now, she felt ‘lost in faith.’ All she craved was to return home to her beloved England with her husband and children, regardless of how it would permanently damage their flawless Christian reputation within their denomination.

Christine’s main aim in life since conversion at twelve years of age, was always to be in God’s will no-matter what the cost. But in this instance, to remain in God’s will, and to be happy in it, was to be her biggest challenge yet. She had arrived to live amongst all the things she hated most! She had to disappointingly admit to God that she was a failure and not up to the task ahead.

Spoiled by her parents, Christine wasn’t up to rearing their young family without electricity, water, washing in a trench, or cooking outdoors, while trying to cope with dangerous opposition, and trying to be the perfect example!

There was no freedom, nor contact with anyone or anything Christian: fellowship, church, family, friends, or her music, and for the first time ever, Christine felt ‘lost’ in faith.

Read how Christine became willing to lose her impeccable Christian reputation, to be truly lost in faith in a different sense!
