SC10
The author declares that if we really believed that God in His Word teaches the eternal doom of the sinner we would be much more in earnest for the salvation of souls. Our zeal doesn't make the facts more true, nor does our apathy lessen the awfulness of the sinner's future. But our apathy, our living as if we did not really believe these things, will make the sinner more careless also, and thus we contribute to the sinner's present condition and future perdition.

SC24
These pages present Govett's understanding of the two witnesses of Revelation 11. He writes: "Of all the passages of difficulty in the book of Revelation, the history of the Two Witness is, I should suppose, the most perplexing to every interpretation but the true. To any who might be in doubt about any new explanation of the Apocalypse, 'Test it by its power to explain the Two Witnesses. If it fail anywhere, and be conspicuous in its failure anywhere, it will be there.'" Robert Govett  (1813-1901) was a British theologian and pastor who became well known because of his brilliant deductive and analytical capabilities. He was a...

CL91
If you enjoy the writings of Leonard Ravenhill and A. W. Tozer, you will love this little volume on the Holy Spirit by Samuel Chadwick. Pastor Jim Cymbala of Brooklyn Tabernacle writes, "Samuel Chadwick cuts to the heart of the matter in his classic book, The Way to Pentecost. Christianity is hopeless without the Holy Spirit and no other book I have ever rerad on the subject so clearly analyzes both our spiritual problems and God's wonderful promise of the supply of His Spirit." As the young pastor of a self-satisfied English congregation in the 1880's, Samuel Chadwick was so frustrated over his lack of power in...

Truth and Error by Horatius Bonar -29%

PP14
We live in a day when the claim to offer truth and expose error is met with hostility. There is a reigning cultural insistence that all truth can be reduced to mere “personal” truths. Many in our churches sink into the sands of relativism, which chafe at the bedrock of “the faith once for all delivered” (Jude 3). What can a 19th century Scottish minister possibly offer to such a postmodern ethos? Pontius Pilate, during the interrogation of Jesus, uttered: “What is truth?” (John 18:38). Truth has always spread its light through a dark fog of error and ignorance in which the light is not easily perceived or readily received, so that...

Unanimity by G. H. Lang -25%

SC16
The author declares that the Scriptural way for churches to make decisions is to wait until there is complete unanimity. This brings unity and peace. The plan of waiting until the indwelling Holy Spirit has brought all minds into unity of purpose yields to our Lord Jesus Christ His proper place as the One Lord and Master in His House and keeps us His brothers in our proper place of humility, dependence and subjection.

With Mercy and With Judgment by Alexander Whyte -16%

KP27
Harold St. John, a great Bible teacher and preacher of a previous generation, was once asked which commentaries and helps to Bible study he would recommend. His reply went something like this: "A man who deals with Scripture," he said, "has a conscience which needs to be trained, a heart which must be warmed, and a will that should be yielded, and finally, a mind which must be fed. For the conscience, none is better than Alexander Whyte - his Lord, Teach Us to Pray and With Mercy and With Judgment will make his readers hot and ashamed." And sometimes, being hot and ashamed is just what we need, spiritually speaking. "Do no put off...
