As with most of Havner’s books, each of these new titles is a collection of writings, with the title of the book being taken from one of the chapters. One of our favorite chapters from By the Still Waters is Chapter 12: One Thing. You can read this chapter on our website under Sample Chapters. It will definitely whet your appetite for more.
The Secret of Christian Joy is an powerful book overall, but in this volume Havner saves the best till last. I’d go as far as to say that the last chapter alone is worth the price of the whole book. The chapter is based on our Lord’s invitation in John 7:37-39: “If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink.” We haven’t made the whole chapter available online, but you can read a couple of paragraphs here to get you started: If Any Man Thirst.
