Description

Scores of pastors and teachers testify, "THIS CHANGED MY LIFE AND MINISTRY." This is possibly this writer's best book; in it he traces God's eternal purpose for mankind, God's rectifying work through the cross, and the glory of sonship. Whether you are a lay Christian or involved in ministry, your life will never be the same after reading this book! Every believer will be deeply impressed by a thorough reading of DeVern Fromke's classic setting forth the importance of God-centeredness for the normal Christian life. Beginning with an unfolding of God's eternal purpose which He purposed for Himself in eternity past, the various chapters set forth the importance of a God-centered view of reality as the only environment nurturing proper spiritual growth. It is not an exaggeration to say that this volume has radically altered many people's understanding of the Christian life, lifting it beyond the pale of "self-interest" and into the only realm it was intended to be lived--with God as Center! This new reprint includes a study guide and can be used for personal or group study. We highly recommend using it to spur spiritual growth in your church.

The author considers these critical questions:

• In the beginning, before God created Adam (mankind), what was His original purpose and plan for him?

• What could have happened in the Garden of Eden if Adam had not sinned and God's redemptive plan had not become necessary?

• We know that when God created Adam he received natural life, but how did God plan for Adam to receive Divine (uncreated) life? What is the difference between God's creating and begetting work?

• It is evident that god has given the Cross a central place in His redemptive working; what is the differenece between the work of the Cross and the way of the Cross?

• Since God in the fulness of time will put on display His Divine masterpiece before all the universe, how can we fully cooperate with Him if we do not understand His ultimate intention?

I highly recommend this book. My wife and I have read lots of books through the years and The Ultimate Intention impacted our lives as much as any we have read. The truth that is shared is eternal and rich for those who desire to live like Jesus did.

I became a Christian in 1978 at the age of 20; my spiritual gift is teaching – so I’m a voracious reader; and I first encountered DeVern Fromke’s The Ultimate Intention in the early 1980’s. That said, I consider The Ultimate Intention the most important Christian book (next to the Bible) that I’ve ever read. It is as life-changing as man first learning that the earth revolves around the sun and not vice versa! All of DeVern Fromke’s books are God-centered, and his teachings are not primarily a ministry of knowledge, but a Ministry of Life!
Disadvantages
There is only one problem (frustration) I have with the book. The original book (published in 1963) is excellent, but the updated (January 1998) edition, Ultimate Intention, has a misprint that negates the meaning of a very important statement. I begged the publisher to fix it, but they would not. On page 57, in the introduction to Chapter 9, the phrase “each thing” should actually read “no thing”. (Cf. page 24, first paragraph, which begins with “We must cease…”) I am perhaps one of Mr. Fromke’s biggest fans, yet whenever I give copies of this book to others, I hand-write the correction in the book – and, yes, it is embarrassing!

Except for the significant misprint, the book is awesome. The most important Christian book I've ever read.

This book will Change your Life DeVern was given revelation that comes from the heart of God I first read this book in 1973 it will change your view from earth to Heaven and from knowing the acts of God to knowing His Ways Psa. 103:7. This book is a foundation to build on The Lord has Lead me into the Hebrew language that really defines our Fathers Views and what beats from His Heart. Thank you Kingsley Press for being a vessel to get this message out. Shalom Haverim

I bought and read a copy of "Ultimate Intention" in 1968. The Holy Spirit used the essence of Devern's book to spark a vital truth in my life ... the reality of the pre-eminence, centrality, supremacy, and sovereignty of the Lord Jesus Christ. Recently i glanced through part of his book for the first time since 1968. I was quickened to buy 60 copies and send to a pastor friend of mine in Rhode Island so he could distribute them to those who attend the local church where he is the pastor. I consider the essence of this book to be of critical importance to any believer. By the way, if you are looking for a "good" church in Rhode Island, contact me at bob.padgett@verizon.net. The pastor there has more spiritual understanding than any pastor I have ever met. Devern, whom I met briefly about 10 years ago, just turned 90 on July 28. I have written 10 Christian books, which I give away free, no strings attached.

Too often we see the Bible as a book of redemption. Devern Fromke helpfully shows us that there was a ultimate intention of God for His Son. He wants many sons in Christ and they learn to become heirs and ultimately seated on the throne with Christ. In the process, God has 7 divine activities: Creation, Providence, Government, Redemption, Sanctification, Begetting and Revelation. We are called into this hope to understand His eternal intention, to live devotedly and dedicatedly to this plan.

As fallen sinners, Redemption is only a process we need to go through. Once we are saved we need to move on to the Father's higher calling.

Fromke shows us many more and helps us to transform our perspective of life and thinking to live to please the Father. It is a very God-centred book.

I was introduced to Fromke's books in 1982 by a dear Christian (Jerry Engledorf). He first shared with me this book...Ultimate Intention! In it, all my questions were answered especially the plan God had in the "before time eternity." Here, I saw that God's ultimate intention that man (humanity) will grow into the likeness of his son Jesus Christ. What a revelation to know that the fall of man did not slip up on God, and our conforming to his likeness is intended before the fall God is awesome! Thanks for bringing this out.
