Date added: 11/25/2009 Outrageous Mercy

If I had to pick one book out of this year's additions to the online store, it would have to be Outrageous Mercy by William P. Farley. This is one of the BEST books I have ever read on the Cross. It is eye opening and deeply challenging. I give this book my highest recommendation and wish every Christian would read it and study it. The author confesses that for fifteen years after his conversion he did not really understand the message of the cross except on a very basic, superficial level. Then God opened his eyes. "I was deeply moved," he says, "shaken to my foundation." Through the pages of this book, you will discover the insights into the Cross of Christ that William Farley has gained over the years since his eyes were opened and I guarantee you will be deeply moved. "The cross teaches us everything we need to know about life, death, God, humanity, eternity, and a host of other issues." For those of you who have not been following KingsleyPress on Twitter, here are a couple of short quotes from the book:

"The Cross should be the chief object of our study and the supreme object of our delight, beside which all else is trivial."

"If you have never been deeply scandalized and offended by the cross, you may have never really heard its message."

"The cross reveals one unchanging God who both visits sin with wrath and loves the unlovable with an inexpressible and glorious love."

The RRP on this book is $12.99 and we have slashed the price down to $9.99. This is the lowest price we've found on the Internet. And don't forget we offer free shipping on orders of $20 or more.

We've been busy adding new titles to the store, among them some interesting audiobooks: Mere Christianity, The Christian's Secret of a Happy Life, The Hiding Place, and Treasures of the Snow by Patricia St. John. The latter is in three different formats: Audio CD, MP3 CD, and MP3 download. This means that you can listen to these books being read to you while you travel, work, or while you just sit and listen. We hope you enjoy these new additions to the store, all of which would make good Christmas presents.

Date added: 10/10/2008 The Opposite of Love Is...
The opposite of love is hate, right? Philip Keller thinks not. "The opposite of love is not hate but indifference," he says. That statement has been bouncing around in my head for a few days and the more I think about it, the more I believe it is correct. Love is commitment. If I love someone I'm committed to them. If I'm indifferent to someone, if I have no commitment to them, I have no love for them. The opposite of love is indifference. Transfer that thought to Christ's love for me as an individual. Have you ever thought about Christ's love for you on an individual level as being a deep commitment? How committed was Christ? committed enough to sufffer an agonizing death and the tremendous blow of God's judgment against my sin. We hear a lot about our commitment to Christ, but what about Christ's commitment to us? Paul expressed that commitment in Galatians 2:20: "I am crucified with Christ; I no longer live, but Christ liveth in me; and the life which I now live, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." In looking up that verse in the commentaries I notice that the bulk of the emphasis is place on the first half of the verse. It's hard to find sermons or comments on that amazing last phrase, "who loved me and gave Himself for me." Paul is talking there about this matter of Christ's commitment to me. "God so loved the world" is a wonderful truth, but "he loved me and gave Himself for me" is astonishing. Let me close with a quotation from Joni Eareckson Tada. Writing on the subject of "faith," she says: "Faith has little do with commitment of allegiance. When we place our faith in Christ, we are not so much taking a stand for Him as we are acknowledging the stand He takes for us.... Faith means being sure of Christ's commitment to you, rather than your commitment to Him. Faith is having confidence in His love for you rather than your love for Him." --Joni Eareckson Tada in Diamonds in the Dust.

Date added: 07/09/2008 Gems of Robert Murray McCheyne Just Added

Gems of Robert Murray McCheyneMcCheyne, a 19th Century Scottish minister had a way with language that made him a wonderful and warm preacher of the Gospel. These gems are just that: jewels, small but bright, cut just right. They will adorn your mind and soul with holy truths and godly thoughts. The book is a collection of short but beautiful pieces that exalt Christ, teach the plain truths of the Gospel, and give the soul much to contemplate and to meditate upon. These can be used for personal reading and meditation. They can also profitably be used in family worship, easily explained to children. The Scripture passage that inspired the gems will be evident to most Christians familiar with the Bible. For others, the gems will lead them to further delve into the Word of God. The images, metaphors and similes that McCheyne uses, although they are from another century, are all quite vivid to the reader in the 21st Century. I highly recommend this book. Take a little time on the Lord’s Day to sit in a peaceable place and meditate on these gems. It will be an experience much like contemplating a beautiful diamond. Only these gems have an eternal value to them that will follow your soul even to the New Heavens and the New Earth, while you leave your diamond rings behind. Buy Gems of Robert Murray McCheyne now.

Date added: 05/24/2008 New: Bringing Back the Gospel

Written by evangelist Tom Bear, founder of Stones Cry Out Ministries, this book calls attention to the fact that in the twenty-first century, the evangelism practices of most churches and their missionaries are inconsistent with the Biblical pattern. If you are like most Christians, your understanding of Biblical evangelism is sketchy, making you a perfect candidate to read this book. If you do read it, you will likely become aware of unbiblical evangelism philosophies and practices going on all around you. You will also learn what the Bible teaches about evangelism and be motivated to engage in it wholeheartedly. Is so-called "Friendship Evangelism" biblical? Buy online now!
